Call for Abstracts

This symposium is an opportunity to bring together researchers, technicians, academics, and other professionals to exchange knowledge and new ideas, to present innovations and to discuss the state of the art and future perspectives for a sustainable greenhouse horticultural sector. The symposium will focus on integral sustainable solutions for different levels of protected crop cultivation systems from net houses, over high tunnels to fully controlled environment. The thematic areas will cover new sustainable technologies and management for greenhouses, such as:
Greenhouse crop production of vegetables, flowers and fruits; Organic greenhouse horticulture; Product quality; Greenhouse crop health and resilient crops; Greenhouse crop fertigation, sustainable nutrients; Soilless cultivation, sustainable water management; Sustainable new growing media; Integral greenhouse systems and design; Covering materials; Light use strategies; Energy saving production techniques; Sustainable CO2 management; Greenhouse climate and energy modelling; Crop modelling; Environmental impacts of controlled environment horticulture; Circular bioeconomy in controlled environments; Life cycle assessment (LCA) in protected cultivation systems; Resilience of protected horticulture against Climate Change.

The following topics will be developed during the symposium:

  • Sustainable greenhouse crop production of vegetables, flowers and fruits
  • Organic greenhouse horticulture
  • Product quality
  • Sustainable CO2 management, energy saving production techniques
  • Sustainable fertigation, nutrients and water management, new growing media
  • Resilience of protected horticulture against climate change
  • Life cycle assessment (LCA) in protected cultivation systems
  • Covering materials, light use strategies
  • Environmental impacts of controlled environment horticulture
  • Greenhouse climate and energy modelling, crop modelling
