Call for Abstracts
We invite researchers, health professionals, and industry experts to submit abstracts for the Symposium on Human Health Effects of Fruits and Vegetables. This event will explore the latest advancements in plant-based diets and their impact on human health, providing a platform for sharing cutting-edge research and fostering collaboration among experts in horticulture, nutrition, public health, and food science.
We welcome submissions of original research, systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and innovative case studies related to the role of fruits and vegetables in disease prevention and overall well-being. Diets rich in fruits, vegetables, and nuts have been shown to lower blood pressure, reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases, prevent certain cancers, and support metabolic health.
Discussions will focus on the role of phytochemicals, dietary fibers, and protein alternatives in modulating metabolism, gut microbiota, chronic disease risks, and innovative ways to enhance the nutritional quality of horticultural produce.
Selected abstracts will be considered for oral and poster presentations. We invite you to contribute to this interdisciplinary dialogue, shaping the future of functional and health-promoting plant-based foods and their critical role in global health.
The following topics will be developed during the symposium:
- Health effects of fruits and vegetables: Their role in reducing disease risks
- New plant proteins and human health: Novel protein sources, digestibility, and functional properties
- Microbiome modulation: Effects of dietary fibers and phytochemicals on gut health
- Plant-rich diets and disease prevention: Scientific evidence on chronic disease risk reduction
- Bioavailability and metabolomics of phytochemicals: Absorption, metabolism, and functional implications
- Fermented plant foods: Microbial transformations and potential health benefits
- Supplements vs. whole foods: Comparative health effects and technological applications
- Exploring the diversity of horticulture – Innovations in plant-based food ingredients
- Waste valorization in the food industry: Converting horticultural waste into functional food components
