Call for Abstracts

Following the COVID-19 pandemic, interest in plants and the impact of spending time in plant-filled environments on human health has grown in recent years. Plant-mediated therapy includes horticultural therapy, forest therapy, and ecotherapy, but there is still room for further study of their effectiveness and methodology.

In recent years, the use of care farming in Europe, agrohealing in Korea, and agriculture-welfare collaboration in Japan have attracted widespread attention.

There are also increasing examples of horticultural activities being used to build communities and improve social well-being.

The challenge for the future is to train experts who can take on leadership roles in this field, where the need is growing.

The main theme of this symposium is “Exploring human-nature interactions: research and practice for improving health and quality of life,” and the symposium will bring together leading researchers, practitioners, and policymakers to exchange ideas and promote progress in the fields of horticultural therapy and naturopathy.

The following topics will be developed during the symposium:

  • Research and practice for nature-based interventions
  • Research and practice for horticultural therapy
  • Research and practice for ecotherapy and forest therapy
  • Research and practice for Agro-healing or Care farming
  • Designing green spaces for healing
  • Community gardening and social well-being
  • Sustainable horticulture and environmental conservation
  • Building expertise in horticultural therapy and nature-based healing
