TOURS

We will schedule a day-trip “One-Day Technical Tour” on August 28 and a “Post Congress Tour” from August 29-31 (2 nights, 3 days). Five and four courses are planned, respectively. We are also planning “Tours for Accompanying Persons”.Details may be subject to change in the future, so please check back regularly for updates.

Please note that the Special Scientific Event is scheduled for the same day as the One-Day Technical Tour. Therefore, the one-day tour participants cannot join the Special Scientific Event.

Reservation

A tour participation fee is required. Reservations will be accepted starting later than late Februaruy or early March 2026.

1. Minimum Number of Participants

The minimum number of participants varies depending on the course. Please note that the tour may be cancelled if the minimum number of participants is not met.

2. Itinerary Information

The scheduled itinerary, including accommodations and sightseeing activities, is subject to change due to local conditions, weather, transportation schedules, or other unavoidable circumstances.

3. Dietary Restrictions (vegetarian, halal, etc.) for lunch

Unfortunately, we are NOT able to arrange any dietary restrictions (vegetarian, halal, etc.), so please be aware of this in advance. If you have any concerns about meals, please prepare your own food.


One-Day Technical Tour

The “One-Day Technical Tour” is a day trip scheduled on August 28. We have prepared five tours (T-1 to T-5). Participants will visit and inspect facilities in prefectures neighboring to Kyoto Prefecture, the venue location.

Hyogo Prefecture is home to a wide variety of agriculture, thanks to its diverse climate and geography.The region is particularly well-known for producing fruits like grapes, figs, and chestnuts, as well as flowers such as carnations and stocks. In terms of vegetables, Hyogo is a major producer of both greenhouse-grown produce like tomatoes, strawberries, and leafy greens, and open-field vegetables like onions and lettuce.Its location makes it a key supplier of fresh produce to the major metropolitan areas of Osaka, Kobe, and Kyoto. On this tour, you will visit a private farm and a prefectural research center in southern Hyogo to learn about the current state of the prefecture’s vibrant horticultural industry.

Shiga Prefecture is home to Lake Biwa, the largest lake in Japan and said to be the third-oldest ancient lake in the world. Leveraging its abundant water resources, Shiga has been historically famous for rice production, particularly known for its ‘Ohmi’ brand rice. In recent years, to protect the environment of Lake Biwa, often called the ‘Mother Lake,’ the prefecture has been promoting a unique initiative known as ‘Environmentally-Conscious Agriculture’. This sustainable farming method, which involves reducing the use of chemical pesticides and fertilizers to conserve water quality, is practiced throughout the prefecture. On this tour, you will visit a museum to learn about the nature and culture of Lake Biwa, and also observe vegetable and flower cultivation sites within the prefecture.

Nara Prefecture has developed an agricultural industry that leverages its prime location adjacent to the major metropolitan consumer market of the Keihanshin (Osaka-Kobe-Kyoto) area. In the northern basin of the prefecture, the cultivation of cut flowers like chrysanthemums and vegetables such as strawberries is prominent. Meanwhile, the southern mountainous region is known for its fruit cultivation, including persimmons and Japanese apricots. On this tour, we will first visit a chrysanthemum farm in the northern area, followed by a visit to a persimmon sorting facility and the research facilities of a local Fruit Tree and Medicinal Plant Research Center in the south.

Mie Prefecture, which stretches from north to south and enjoys a mild climate, is home to a diverse range of agricultural practices unique to each region. In addition to rice, its cornerstone crop, the prefecture is a major producer of tea, flowers, and nursery plants in the northern and central areas. The particularly warm southern region is famous for its citrus cultivation. In recent years, there has also been a significant expansion of farms implementing ‘smart agriculture’ technologies. On this tour, you will first visit the advanced facilities of Asai Farm, one of Japan’s leading agri-tech companies. Afterward, you will experience Mie’s unique agricultural scene by visiting a direct-sales farmer’s market featuring local specialties, and the Akatsuka Botanical Garden, a flower producer that also focuses heavily on tourism. Finally, we will pay a visit to Ise Jingu (Ise Grand Shrine), often described as the ‘spiritual home of the Japanese people,’ offering a perfect opportunity to find peace, refresh your spirit, and soothe the fatigue from your journey.

Post Congress Tour

The “Post Congress Tour” to be scheduled on August 29-31 (2 nights, 3 days) offers four courses. PT-1 visits the prefectures around Kyoto, where the venue is located. PT-2 heads toward Western Japan. There are two tours heading toward Eastern Japan (PT-3, PT-4).

Regarding accommodation for Day 3 (August 31)

Due to potential road traffic conditions that may prevent us from arriving at the station at the scheduled time, we highly recommend that you make your own accommodation reservations for August 31 (Mon) and that you return to your country on or after September 1st (Tue).

  • For 1 Guest: Accommodation will be in a single room.
  • For 2 Guests: Accommodation will be in a twin room.
  • For 3 Guests: Triple rooms are on a request basis only and cannot be guaranteed. Please be advised that accommodation may consist of one twin room and one single room depending on availability.
  • For 4 Guests: Accommodation will be in two twin rooms. Quad rooms (4 persons in 1 room) cannot be arranged.

Destination>> Kansai International Airport/Osaka Station (visiting Hyogo, Osaka and Wakayama).  

This tour departs from the ICC Kyoto and will visit tourist sites and horticultural facilities in Hyogo, Osaka, and Wakayama before concluding at Kansai International Airport and Osaka Station. On the first day, you will visit a vegetable seedling facility and the Himeji Castle, a National Treasure. On the second day, you will enjoy the food culture of Osaka. On the third day, you will see the current state of the fruit production in Wakayama Prefecture, one of the largest citrus production areas in Japan. You may choose to be dropped off at either Kansai International Airport or Osaka Station.

On this tour, we will depart from the ICC Kyoto and head west to visit fruit orchards and World Heritage sites in Hiroshima and Fukuoka. On the first day, after having lunch at a winery in Hiroshima, you will enjoy fruit picking at a tourist farm. On the second day, we will visit Hiroshima’s World Heritage sites: the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum and Itsukushima Shrine. On the third day, we will visit a strawberry farm and a farmers’ market in Fukuoka. At the end of the trip, we will pay a visit to Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine before the tour concludes at Hakata Station.

On this tour, we will travel east from Kyoto along the Tokaido route, concluding at Tokyo Station. On the first day, after visiting a NARO research institute, we will visit a museum and a shrine with connections to the Tokugawa shogunate. On the second day, we will visit one of the nation’s leading chrysanthemum and tea production areas to tour a shipping center and a museum, respectively. On the third day, we will visit a winery in Yamanashi Prefecture, a notable grape-producing region, followed by a tour of a bonsai art museum before heading to Tokyo Station.

We are also organizing half-day Kyoto city tours for accompanying persons during the conference period. These tours are open not only to accompanying persons but also to all conference attendees. We are planning the following five tours, with one tour scheduled to run each day during the conference period. The detailed schedule will be announced on our website as soon as it is finalized.

AT-1: Kyoto Scent & Handcraft Workshop

Discover the art of Japanese fragrance at Shoyeido, a renowned incense atelier. Learn the history and craftsmanship behind traditional scents, then create your own unique washi paper earrings in a 118-year-old machiya (traditional wooden townhouse).  A sensory journey blending Kyoto’s heritage with hands-on creativity—perfect for an unforgettable half-day experience.

AT-2: Yukata Dressing & Golden Pavilion Visit
